De Dalt

Yesterday for the first time I visited Evissa, which is the capital of Ibiza. It’s an amazing place with chocolate-box shops, typically spanish squares and the old fortified citadel called De Dalt.

De Dalt is a maze of tunnels, cobbled streets and thick ramparts and the views are breathtaking. Although I was far more interested in the echoes I found in the tunnels. I love the sound of my own voice!

The Big M and D and my godparents had booked a table for lunch at Mirador de Dalt Vila, a hotel in the middle of the old town. The table was outside on the veranda and couldn’t have been more picturesque. The waiters were the best I have ever encountered; they not only knew everything about the food and wine, but gave me things to play with and made a fuss of me.

Given that lunch didn’t finish until after 5pm, I think it was a great success. Here are some of the courses.

The excitement of the day was all too much for me and I fell asleep on the bus home.
