Holiday tips #1

Similar to my earlier tips on travel (travelling: lesson 1) the key to a successful holiday is relaxing in the sun whenever possible with a good book.

Who is the fairest of them all?

Over the past few weeks the big M has been reading me stories before bed. Tonight we finished our first book. It was a mega book of fairy tales. Some of them were a little bit gruesome like the Fish Knights and Bluebeard. My favourite was The Ugly Duckling. I also liked Aesop’s fables, particularly the Hare and the Tortoise.

We’re starting on the Roald Dahl compendium tomorrow night. I can’t wait.  I love story time.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

The postman delivered me a new book today. And I already love it!

It’s Hello Kitty 123 helping me to learn how to count.

I get a free book every month from Dolly Parton – she set up an initiative called the Imagination Library to help foster a love of reading in children.

Last month I received DK’s Baby Animals which has different textures to touch and feel, like a furry gorilla and a fluffy duck.

There are loads of books in our house and I love having my very own shelf. I can’t wait to be able to read bigger boy books myself, although in the meantime the Big M and D read to me. We’re currently on Winnie the Pooh.

Thanks Dolly – hopefully one day I’ll visit you in Dollywood!!!
