Oh we do like to be beside the seaside 2

Oh we do like to be beside the sea! And hence when the sun shines we do what any self respecting Brit would do and don our shorts and head to the beach (along with the rest of the world and their dogs).
And what a jolly time we had. We got sand in our cous cous, sand in our shoes, sand in our drinks, sand on our blanket and everywhere else – when I had my bath tonight I found loads of sand somehow still attached to me – but nonetheless sand notwithstanding we had a great time digging holes, people watching and paddling. We had taken our swimming togs but decided it was a little bit too cold – we’re not that crazy – although a lot of people were! Maybe next time.

We went to the beach today and I ate my first sand-wich – a mouthful of powdery yellow sand. Delicious!

I learnt how to build sand castles but much of the time I was more interested in eating my spade.

I also went for a paddle up to my waist in the sea. I wanted to go deeper but I wasn’t allowed

Beach bum

This morning I learnt how to be a beach bum.

We ambled down to the sand nice and early in order to secure our space. Luckily all the clubbers weren’t up yet so we pretty much had it to ourselves. Then we went for a dip in the sea. It was a bit chilly to begin with but once you got used to it it was fine – not as cold as the lake in Zurich when we stayed at my godmother’s house.

I liked the surf line and chasing the waves. I hope we come again tomorrow. I might ask the big M and D for a bucket and spade.
